Theatre de la Medeleine, Paris
I was lucky enough to be invited to the theatre last Saturday evening. We visited the Theatre de la Medeleine to see a piece by Samuel Beckett titled Fin de partie . Slightly bizarre, a bit long, depressing but with a constant underlying story of love, attachment and desparation. We could have easily walked out complaining it was long, annoying, negative but after reflecting and discussing I think we came to the conclusion it was in fact a good story, well played and effective. It made us think and therefore it was a good experience!
The theatre itself was cute, not too big. We had a little balcony to ourselves to the left of the stage, it was cozy. The Theatre de la Madeleine was built in 1924 in a typical english style. Its known to be one of the more prestigious private theatres in Paris, and has built a reputation around the quality of playwrites and dramatic presentations over the years.
It was a lovely evening :)
