Fresh

Summer time fresh

via Oh Joy

Van Dongen

I cant explain the inspiration and happiness that came out of this visit! I just LOVED it. I could see it a million times over and so tell me if you want to go! Its on at the Museum of Modern Art until the 17th of July.

Van Dongen has an interesting life story as well. With connections to Picasso and Matisse, he became well known in France and spent a big part of his life in Paris. The stages he went through you can see from one collection to the other. The colours are beautiful and his style is stunning. The way he painted women was so lovely as well.

Love love loved it.

Coffeetable book

J'aime Paris! by Alain Ducasse
If you dont have this book on your coffee table you should. I bought it a few weeks ago and just love it. 200 stunning and delicious looking Parisien restaurants featured. Mmmmm!

Summer days

I saw this and it reminded me of the beautiful family house we have on the Ottawa river in Canada. Thinking of all you wonderful Canadians!

Happy first week of summer xx

Art Saint Germain-des-Près

Over the next few days 100 art galleries in the historic neighbourhood of Saint Germain-des-Près celebrate! I rode to the 6th arrondisement yesterday evening and enjoyed the streets full of art lovers! All gallery doors were open, people everywhere, wine, music in the street, pink ribbon everywhere to decorate the neighbouhood. It was just lovely. Ill post photos soon.

Friday tunes

You must listen to this song! Oh Queen.

La vie est belle sur une bicyclette!

I cant explain to you how happy it makes me to ride my bike in this beautiful city. I found myself singing Joao Gilberto's 'S Wonderful on my way to work this morning. Its a sense of freedom I cant explain.

Paris right now:

The sun is shining, the trees are big and green lining the streets, flowers are blooming, birds are singing, as I ride through the streets after work the setting sun lights the beautiful architecture, churches, parks. Its a dream. Really.

Wine to go

I need one of these for my bike!

Film

Id like to get into film photography again. Gosh its so easy to snap a photo with your phone, upload, blog blah blah.. too quick.. minimal character...

weather with character

Its a bit cloudy today but I kinda like it.

Love this girl

My beautiful friend Andrea came to visit this weekend. We had so many great fun and laughs. We visit an excellent photography exhibition opening at GallerieVu, had a delicious and very trendy dinner at Hotel Amour, laughs and 10am champagne with friends one morning and so much good coffee, good wine, and cheeeese!! Ah. Love this girl. Thank you!

Hotel Amour is in the 9em, super cool, great vibe, bustling with a super terrace!!

Delmontel

We wait in line on a Sunday morning... only for one of the very best baguettes in town, at Delmontel.

Bicyclette!

I got a bike this morning! Wandering through the Marche Mouffetard on Rue Mouffetard, one of the oldest and historic in Paris' 5th arrondisement, traced back to the Roman times! It was a lovely wander and a dream once I found my little bicyclette! Its a bicycle from the netherlands, a classic! Ive been thinking hard about getting a bike and how wonderful it would be to cruise to work in the morning rather than pack into a metro car like sardenes :) Now I get to imagine finishing the tour de France, riding through the arc de triumphe on a daily basis! (really Ill detour though, the roundabout at the arc is a swirling death trap on a bicycle! Dont worry mother :)

Best part of the day was chatting to the nice man at the bike shop, Salim. He put air in my tires, set me up with a mirror, lock and a basket and told me he would have bought the bike for 6 times what I paid for it. Score! yes.

Im a happy girl :)

Life is good on a bicycle

Living a dream

Funny to think last time I blogged I was stressing about finding an appartment. Fair enough it was a mission and a half!! And well I got lucky (Ill admit I pretty much begged for it in fear of never finding one!). I am now a proud resident of the 9em arrondisement, one of my favorite neighbourhoods in Paris.

I have my very first apartment!!! It is SO lovely, a whole 20m2, re-done and freshly painted. I couldnt have asked for more.

So since I signed the contract and got my keys yesterday morning I have been designing the place even in my sleep. Ive cleaned started placing what I have here in their new spots, slowly building the bookshelf up and step by step moving loads of clothes and shoes stuff from my temporary flat which I have until the end of the month (thank goodness for the overlap!)

Im going to keep you kids updated on my little appartments evolution. So here are photos from when the papers were signed, the keys were handed over, the landlord left the building and I was bursting with excitement.

Those are the BEFORE photos. The evolution begins!

Im interior designing in my sleep its so exciting.
