Just to let you know..

I do not care what kind of car you drive or where you live, if you know someone who knows someone who knows someone, if your clothes are so next season, if your trust fund is unlimited and everything is taken care of, if you are A list, B list or never-heard-of-you list, I care about the words that come out of your mouth and flutter from your mind, they are the only thing you truly own. The only thing I will really remember you by. I will not fall in love with your bones and your skin or each and every place you have been, I will not fall in love with anything but the personality and words that flutter from your extraordinary mind!

Paris update

Alright kids! Bare with me. Im sorry I havent been so active on here. My life has been chaos, moving from Bonn to Paris (big move!), having Jude here for her first Parisian experience, my mother decided to SURPRISE me and arrive at Easter and in the middle of everything im on the impossible apartment hunt, starting a new job on Monday and catching up with everyone!

Ive managed to find some seriously good coffee at:

Kooka Boora in the 9th - Aussie's serving a very nice piccolo (something you can only get in Australia otherwise!!)...

La Cafeotheque around the corner from the European Museum of Photography.. in the 11th? St. Paul Metro
- A very nice little bar in the back of this place that serves a proper espresso just the way I like it.

and im at Terres de Cafe ready to serve you an espresso on Sundays! (I like to keep myself busy).
- Ive been visiting Christophe at both of his shoe box espresso bars for years now. He asked me to help out and im excited about it! Come on by!

The hair!

Today: Paris random

At Kooka Burra Cafe, enjoying an espresso that reminds me of Noosa (maybe because its quality coffee made by an aussie?) I know so un-french, whatever. Im around the corner from an apartment I will view in the 9e (my dream 'quartier') I just love it!

An old French man just stopped to talk to me about "this technology in your hand", my iPad. He admired it and shared his want for one himself, he then proceded to tell me about this great gallery exhibition he recently went to that showed illustrations all done on an iPad. He was adorable.

Considering I am new to the city and surely I will be having some interesting encounters with people, I will share them with you... okay? Okay.

Design: Clean inspiration

Channeling a great apartment of my very own that I can call home and make as beautiful as these! .. even though it will probably be only 17m2 in its entirety!!

Today: Coffee at Kooka Burra

I love a prominent door.

I met a few aussies at Kooka Burra in the 9th today. It made me smile.

Kooka Burra is a lovely little corner cafe at rue Trudaine and rue des Martyrs (one of my favorites!!) Cruisy little spot, friendly service. A good espresso. A little overpriced.

I just love this neighbourhood.

Film: Pina

I saw a lovely film last night. I packed a green tea to go and saw it late night. A beautiful story of dance. Ironic it was German!

It was in 3D.

Laudry

I have to get used to the whole mission of doing your laundry at the laundromat. I have been living in luxury I have realized!! I made friends with the laundromat man today. I must have looked silly trying to figure it all out :)

I am now a pro.

Paris update: week 1 part 1

Okay so the Paris updates begin! I stumbled upon this parisien life, so here I go... it wont be easy at times I know, I have already attempted to try to find an apartment and the war goes on!

I am happy to share my adventure with you. Enjoy.
I arrived finally on Saturday April 16th. Lucky me, I had Judith a friend and colleague (ex colleague! :( ....) join me and help lug my wardrobe and shoes luggage. It would be her first Parisien experience, I was so excited to show her my favorites corners and cafes of this beautiful city (that I am yet to discover too!). So naturally we dropped our bags and head out for a few drinks at Le Sans Soucis where you can always find an interesting crew to chat with, great music and cruisy ambiance. We like it :)

Thank you technology for allowing us to wip out the smart phone and document this fun!

The next few days were full of wandering, site seeing and viewing a couple of apartments (nothing special to report there, the hunt goes on). We bumped in to more colleagues, so ironic, 3 of us from the same office in the same city and visiting the same bakery at the same time! We ran into Steven and Rachel... litterally RAN into them!

Funny they are.

So Bonn wasnt so easy to let go after all, my colleagues were following me! Two of my favorites at least. I will truely miss our laughs on the daily, sing alongs, and all other banter.

The weather was stunning and we had a lovely walk pasted Notre Dame de Paris and on through the 5th to (my favorite) Jardin de Luxembourg for a picnic lunch. Its too bad we got kicked off the lawn... woops.

We went and visit the rooftop lookout at Printemps

Fun fun. Thank you Jude!!! xx

IM MOVING TO PARIS!!!

5 DAYS

Bye bye Bonn

I had my last weekend in Bonn, it wasnt decided in advance but it turned out to be a weekend full of site seeing and good weather!

The sun was shining and the weather was warm! Tee-shirts and sunnys all around. I spent Saturday evening discovering Cologne, walking across the bridge covered with love locks! Impressive. We walked along the Rhine where there are some interesting new waterfront developments popping up where they have added on the old industrial buildings etc. I really love the juxtapostion of old brick buildings that are hundreds of years old with new contemporary additions designed to expand the space.

Anyway, I got a great local walking tour of Cologne at night, followed by a lovely dinner and bar hopping in style.

silly fun

Sunday in Bonn consisted of ferry rides, km's of walking along the river, viewing of some interesting architecture and sunset Campari's.

Best weekend.

Summer inspiration

a room in Paris

I have a space that I am sharing in Paris until I find a place of my very own. ... which is proving to be a bit of a challenge! Its not easy finding something nice and spacious (enough!) within a reasonable budget. The search has started and I am lucky I have time...

Here is where im posted for now, in the 10e arrondissement:
